In order to adhere to Federal and State guidelines, and for the safety of County residents and employees, the Community Development Office is closed to the public.

Staff members are in the office and are available to assist residents and agency/municipal grantees.  In addition, staff provide information and resources about other social service agencies and community partners, including - but not limited to - those that assist with:  rental assistance, emergency shelter, transitional housing, food, mental health services, veterans services, domestic violence, and first-time homebuyers.

  • Serves the 21 municipalities of Somerset County and its residents through the administration of Federal and County-funded programs that address affordable housing and community development needs. 
  • Provides technical assistance to program applicants, monitors grant recipients for compliance with federal regulations and processes reimbursement payments for program-related expenses.
  • Prepares status and evaluative reports for submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
  • Provides guidance and resources to clients about local non-profit agencies and current programs.
