RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program)
The goal of RSVP is to identify community needs and engage seniors (55 and older) in active volunteer service to address those needs. In return, by using their talents & skills & giving their time & effort, volunteers will be rewarded with fulfilling experiences that impact the community in a positive and meaningful way & make a felt difference in the lives of others.
Although the RSVP program specifically targets seniors, anyone of any age can volunteer. All that is needed is a willingness and desire to serve the community.
When someone applies to volunteer, we match that person to assignments based on the volunteer’s interest & skills but foremost we place them where they want to serve.
How much time is required?
Volunteer hours are arranged according to the individual’s schedule and preferences.
Where can I volunteer?
Volunteers may serve in a variety of situations within Governmental or non-profit agencies throughout Somerset County. The volunteer always chooses where he or she wishes to serve and in what capacity.
New programs are added throughout the year and are updated in our RSVP Impact Newsletter.
Are there any restrictions on who can volunteer?
Some programs have age restrictions that require a volunteer to be an adult (over 18), however, programs like The Fall Leaf Clean-Up can use people of almost any age.
Volunteers for certain programs are screened and must submit to a background check
What benefits do I get for volunteering?
Volunteers are covered under a special insurance policy and receive other benefits as well.
Volunteer hours may be submitted to fulfill requirements for service for many organizations.
