Mission

Advises the Board of County Commissioners through the Department of Human Services & Office on Aging and Disability Services to address the needs of persons living with disabilities. Activities include planning for and assisting in the development and coordination of services and providing community education, awareness and advocacy for persons living with disabilities.

Membership

The Advisory Council on Disability Issues (ACODI) requires a minimum of 15 and maximum of 25 members who demonstrate qualities of leadership and involvement in matters related to persons with disabilities. Fifty-one (51%) percent of the membership includes persons with a disability or individuals who have a family member/significant other that is disabled. Other members include representatives from agencies/organizations/service providers.

Appointments to the ACODI, for a term of two calendar years, are made at the discretion of the Board of County Commissioners.

Meeting Schedule

ACODI meets ten times during the calendar year. Advisory Council meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m., via zoom. The re-organization meeting of the Board of County Commissioners constitutes the January meeting. There are no meetings in July and August.
