If you do not understand, speak, or read English, please contact the IDRC office via email prior to your scheduled class date to make alternate arrangements for a Spanish-speaking class

Initial IDRC Class Scheduling:

The Intoxicated Driving Program (IDP) in Trenton is directly responsible for initially scheduling every client after sentencing. Clients will receive a scheduling notice from the State of New Jersey IDP in the mail at the address that was provided to the court at the time of sentencing. Please note this process can take 2-4 weeks from your date of sentencing. For questions about initial scheduling, please contact IDP at 609-815-3100.

Please Note:  If you have received a scheduling notice from the State of New Jersey IDP regarding your IDRC class, please note that you will be receiving another Class Notice in the mail directly from the IDRC approximately 1 month prior to your scheduled class date. This second letter will give clear instructions on the steps that must be taken to complete your registration for class, in addition to the due-dates that each step must be completed by.

Failure to contact the IDRC at idrc@co.somerset.nj.us before the date listed on the Class Notice can result in program non-compliance and possible license suspension.

Class Location:

IDRC classes being held after July 1st, 2023 will be conducted IN-PERSON. (EXCEPT for Spanish Classes)

An additional class notice will be mailed out to you the month prior to your class date, and all instructions must be followed in order to complete your registration.

Both the Somerset IDRC and Hunterdon IDRC classes are held at 27 Warren Street  Somerville, NJ 08876 in Conference Room #1 on the first floor. Please enter through the main entrance on Warren Street. Warren Street is located between Veterans Memorial Drive East and East Main Street (approximately 2 blocks from Somerville train station). Parking is available in the visitor’s lot on the side of the building off Warren Street.

Transportation is NOT provided. Information on county shuttles can be found on the bottom of the main page.

For IN-PERSON classes, check in for class will begin at 3:45pm inside the main entrance of the building at 27 Warren Street. Please make sure that you have a Photo ID with you.

  • Payment must be made prior to attending class: Class fee payment of $264 must be brought on the first day of class if you have not already paid online (refer to ‘Class Fees’ section above)
  • Bring a brown bag dinner; food will not be provided, and you will not be permitted to leave the building or order delivery! Snack and soda machines are accessible for a fee and there is a refrigerator and microwave for client use.

Rescheduling of an Initial Class Date:

If you need to reschedule your original class date, you must contact the IDRC by email at idrc@co.somerset.nj.us prior to your originally scheduled class date.

According to NJ State Regulations 10:162-3.3; No client shall be permitted to reschedule an original IDRC class date without the follow documentation being received by the IDRC office within 10 days of the scheduled class date:

  1. Health emergency (self or family member) – with physician’s letter signed and dated on provider letterhead
  2. Death – provide a copy of the obituary within 10 days
  3. Family emergency- illness / documented by medical/ school/ professional
  4. Documented work emergency – provide proof of travel plans (i.e., airline reservations/ letter from client’s employer expressing hardship of class attendance)

Based on the above reasons, a client would be permitted one excused reschedule once documentation has been received by the IDRC. The client may not choose their rescheduled class date; they will automatically be placed into the next available class.

If official documentation cannot be provided, the non-compliance process will begin once the client does not show up for the originally scheduled class date. It will then be up to the client to contact the IDRC via email to reschedule to a new class date.

Please note that due to HIPAA and Federal Confidentiality Rules (42 CFR Part 2), we cannot communicate with anyone who is not the IDRC client without the client’s signed consent.
